Overview
Medical Assistant/ Patient Service Associate - Neurology role at Endeavor Health. This position supports the physician practice with front office and clinical duties, coordinating care between physicians and patients, delivering patient services, and ensuring patient safety and privacy. What You Will Do
Provide skilled front office and clinical support to the physician practice and serve as a liaison between the physician and patient to coordinate care. When required, provide direct patient care by working collaboratively with the care team. Function as a member of the patient’s ambulatory care team while delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring patient safety, privacy and loyalty. Provide healthcare services under the direction of the Practice Manager and/or designee, and physicians in the NCH Medical Group. Document accurately in the EMR and adhere to patient confidentiality standards. Obtain/verify medical history, medications, allergies, reason for visit, etc. Accurate collection and documentation of vital signs with attention to geriatric, neonatal and pediatric patients; prepare patients for physician visit. Utilize the standardized rooming patient protocol in EPIC to complete all required documentation fields including medical history, reason for visit, and questionnaires. Explain NCH MyChart and guide patients through activation. Administer medications per physician orders. Perform EKGs, spirometry testing, and other office tests per physician orders and documented competencies. Distribute post-care directions prepared by the physician to the patient. Assist in procedures as needed including room setup, preparation, and cleanup. Ensure supplies are maintained for each practitioner. Assist with obtaining prior authorizations and pre-certifications as needed. Abstract clinical information into Epic at the direction of the physician or practice manager. Ensure the cleanliness of clinical and non-clinical areas such as patient rooms and laboratory. Perform clinic inventory tracking, stocking, and audit expiration dates of all patient care items. Obtain medical records from non-NCH facilities. Create and open orders per protocol or as directed by provider. Answer all incoming telephone calls to the office and handle each as appropriate, in accordance with NorthShore telephone customer service standards. Take accurate and complete messages according to protocols. Follow up on patient issues as appropriate. Confirm/update & distribute call schedule; notify answering service, and internal on-call system, etc. Provide timely responses to NCH MyChart messages and appointment requests & other In Basket messages. Complete prescription refills as per practice protocol. As directed, communicate test results & other information to patients via NCH MyChart or telephone. What You Will Need
Education: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience required. Certification: BLS/CPR Certification for the Healthcare Provider required. Experience: Minimum 6 months experience as a Medical Assistant preferred. Benefits
