General Summary
MedStar Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist II for MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center. The ideal candidate is competent in case procedure, preparation, and completion in all services and has expertise in at least one specialty surgical service.
As a Surgical Technologist II, you will perform a variety of technical duties to assist with surgery, provide expert services in at least one specialty area, and assist with precepting of staff and students.
Primary Duties
Anticipate the sequential needs of the surgeon/physician during procedures; assist with case preparation following preference card guidelines; collaborate on competency-based orientation; precept staff and students.
Ensure that equipment functions properly, troubleshoot problems, and serve as technical resource for instruments and equipment.
Assist during procedures by performing specified activities under direct supervision; identify and handle specimens; provide annual in-service as required.
Maintain aseptic techniques, monitor for breaches, participate in committees, and represent the department and hospital in outreach efforts.
Perform indirect patient care, such as patient transportation, provide comfort and support, and respond to patient, family, and others’ questions.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Graduation from a surgical technology or hospital-based program.
1–2 years Surgical Technologist experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Maintain six Continuing Education Credits per year.
CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification preferred.
