Operating in over 160 countries, the Telecom and Technology (T&T) division is recognized for its high first-visit resolution rate and multi-vendor expertise. The Optical Practice focuses on high-performance optical networking solutions, supporting OEM clients with design, installation, and maintenance of ISP infrastructure. Work is performed in Central offices and Huts throughout the US with a presence around the world. This position does not entail services to residential customers. This role requires a positive attitude and aptitude and offers growth potential.

Travel : 90% travel

Key Responsibilities

Daily reporting (project number, site, hours on-site, hours travel, etc.).

Weekly and on-time expense submission.

Project-specific reporting in customer databases or Excel (self-audits, weekly updates, milestone reporting, etc.).

Escalate project issues and risks by interfacing with project personnel, customers, and suppliers.

Monitor implementation in accordance with time, cost, and quality/standards.

Assist upon request Engineering Dispatch Service.

Maintain and update access status as needed.

Maintain training records and related documentation.

Maintain deployment tools and software (including certifications and calibrations).

Lead and supervise work onsite.

Understand and apply established safety practices.

Understand quality requirements and implement quality control processes based on OEM practices and customer best practices.

Perform power verification and preliminary hardware testing using proper tools.

Manage hardware additions/removals and wiring/connections on non-working equipment where applicable.

Commission OEM equipment to the photonic layer; read and stay current on installation documentation.

Read and interpret BOMs, engineering specs, prints, and drawings.

Understand the Scope of Work (SOW) and write comprehensive Job Change orders.

Demonstrate proper use of telecom and fiber transport tools; perform all physical and mechanical installation activities.

Maintain on-site job records and administration tracking.

Perform power and grounding installations within power bays or panels; understand -48V power principles and terminations.

Work safely around enclosed power bays with live equipment; identify proper installation per manufacturer manuals and customer practices.

Lead verification/continuity testing and performance-related checks; guide site teams as needed.

Coordinate logistics and execute physical installation of hardware on one or multiple sites.

Perform preliminary hardware testing in an out-of-service environment; provide C&P as required up to the photonic layer.

Troubleshoot with test sets (e.g., BER, OTDR); train lower skill levels as needed.

Verify completion of service delivery, including redlines, job cost overages, and quality metrics.

Qualifications Required

Minimum of 3 years of accumulated installation experience or equivalent as determined by the Training process; proficiency in Telcordia with Telcordia Skill levels 1, 2, and 3.

Familiarity with TELCORDIA GR-1275 standard.

Experience with DWDM Long Haul equipment.

Familiarity with -48V power and Infinera (Nokia) equipment.

Familiarity with fibers and fiber scoping.

Ability to work without supervision and adhere to company policies.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; professional communication.

Ability to work in confined spaces and travel for weeks as required; night shift may be required.

Physical ability to lift at least 25 pounds (12 kg).

Ability to train others, provide feedback, and evaluate performance.

Ability to identify proper installation per manuals and customer best practices.

Ability to evaluate technicians’ performance and provide shadowing/hands-on training.
