General Summary of Position Responsibility:
This position schedules surgical procedures for assigned physicians and coordinates all ancillary requirements, including insurance authorization and pre-operative clearances, with families, internal and external providers, operating room, and other stakeholders. Schedule:
M-F 7:30am - 4pm Essential Job Functions: As member of the division’s surgery scheduling team, schedules surgical procedures and coordinates changes, late surgical add-ons and/or cancellations. Monitors calendars to look for any discrepancies within the physician’s planned schedule. Contributes to management and coordination of the surgery schedule, ensuring that efficient use is made of the division’s surgical block time. Manages and coordinates obtaining consents and pre-certification of professional services to secure coverage and payment; documents and distributes pertinent coverage and/or medical information as it is received; coordinates communication and distribution of information to physicians, operating room, pediatricians, ancillary medical practices, legal guardians, billing office, and all other stakeholders. Communicates with the patient’s legal guardian(s) to schedule procedures and obtain pertinent medical information. Works closely with Division of Urology physicians to communicate any and all information that relates to the patient, procedure, or care. Meets regularly with the physicians to whom they are assigned and scheduling team to address schedules and other pertinent information. Performs all related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: High school diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of two years general office or administrative experience preferred. Hospital or physician office experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications. Ability to operate standard office equipment and resolve standard problems. Excellent communication skills – written and verbal. Ability to prioritize projects and strong problem solving skills. Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, and discretion. Ability to provide high level of quality customer service to patient/families, employees, leaders, and external vendors. Education High School Diploma/GED (Required) Pay Range $19.00-$28.50 Hourly At Lurie Children’s, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position. Ranges are regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions.
