Overview
Assistant Director of Student Accountability at USC Marshall School of Business. The Assistant Director supports the Senior Director in resolving all non-academic student accountability matters involving individual students and student organizations, both on and off campus. This includes incidents in residence halls, classrooms, surrounding communities, global locations, and off-campus establishments. The Assistant Director contributes to the overall success of the Office of Student Accountability by performing all other duties assigned by the Senior Director of Student Advocacy and Accountability. Responsibilities
Investigate student and organization misconduct, conduct interviews, compile reports, and liaise with national organizations when needed. Coordinate and oversee student conduct hearings, including scheduling, notifying participants, reviewing evidence, and conducting pre-hearing meetings. Recruit, train, and support hearing board members (faculty, staff, students) annually. Assist the Senior Director in ensuring hearings are conducted in accordance with recognized procedures; advise chairs on complex issues; interpret University policies as necessary; and serve as a Hearing Authority (chair) when deemed necessary. Ensure confidentiality of all student conduct records and supervise maintenance and security of such records. Ensure University compliance with FERPA and provide certification for agencies requesting student conduct information. Design, implement, and evaluate educational programs on topics such as student ethics, rights and responsibilities, decision making, risk management, civility, community responsibilities, alcohol and drug education, cross-cultural communication, and conflict resolution. Provide ongoing outreach and education for constituencies (students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members) on student conduct matters. Counsel individual students regarding their rights and responsibilities. Conduct assessments to monitor student learning outcomes related to referrals to the University conduct process. Assist in producing university documents and materials as directed by the Director of Student Accountability. Serve as a liaison between the Office of Student Accountability and appropriate community agencies. Serve as a resource to faculty, staff, and students for resolving conflicts and clarifying procedures in complex legal issues evolving in higher education. Contribute to a work environment that respects and develops skills to engage with people of diverse backgrounds. Stay competent and current through self-directed professional reading, networking, and attending required training. Perform any other duties assigned. Supervision
