What You’ll Do As a Transportation Maintenance Supervisor

Develop budgets for repair, maintenance, supplies, third‑party support and spare‑parts inventory.

Negotiate maintenance contracts and other third‑party support for transportation assets.

Identify, prioritize and coordinate the daily activities of technicians, inspiring the department to achieve desired results in productivity, teamwork, safety and task proficiency.

Ensure the training and development of the team on all technical aspects of transportation maintenance, including refrigeration, heavy‑duty tractors, and trailer repair.

Maintain proper staffing, required training and certifications.

Utilize the Fleet Assistant computerized maintenance system to optimize asset utilization through scheduled preventive maintenance.

Monitor expenses by function and equipment.

Provide hands‑on repairs for all equipment repairs required.

Maintain an adequate spare parts inventory, monitor purchasing and expense actions.

Develop and foster strong vendor and contractor relationships to ensure the best quality, cost and customer service for transportation.

Work nights, weekends and on-call periods if required for supervision or work‑related problems.

Maintain and monitor safety processes to keep the transportation shop in compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.

Effectively communicate both written and orally with supervisors and peers.

Follow directions, work independently and within a team environment, comply with the company attendance policy, and maintain a flexible work schedule to meet changing demands.

Work in warm and cold temperature conditions and perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits You Can Count On

Pay rate: $68,000 per year.

Annual incentive plan with a target incentive of 10.5% of base salary.

Qualifications You’ll Bring As a Transportation Maintenance Supervisor

Have a 4‑year degree or equivalent professional training and experience in heavy maintenance discipline.

Have 5 or more years of maintenance supervision experience in an automotive or heavy‑duty shop.

Possess outstanding leadership qualities, including assertiveness, organization, enthusiasm, decisiveness, planning, confidence and accountability.

Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong analytical skills.

Be willing to work flexible hours and possess strong technical working knowledge of medium/heavy equipment.

Possess computer skills including Windows, MS Office and maintenance‑related computer systems.

Have 5–7 years of job experience on major diesel repairs, heavy‑duty tractor‑trailer repairs, major refrigeration maintenance and repairs.

Possess a valid Class C driver’s license (preferably Class A).

Preferred knowledge to handle all trailer and reefer repairs.

Have half of the following certifications with the other half achieved in 90 days of employment:

A current ASE certification in Medium/Heavy Truck Brakes (Test T4).

A current ASE certification in Medium/Heavy Truck Suspension and Steering (Test T5).

Have one or all certifications in Cummins, Detroit or Maxx Force 13 engines.

Brake systems and components, tractor diagnostics and repairs, Spicer‑fuller, Eaton transmissions and Spicer‑fuller, Eaton differentials.

Have knowledge of OSIIA, EPA, DOT and CSA related procedures and safety regulations.

This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job‑related tasks effectively and safely.
