Job Title
Safety Engineer – Equipment Acceptance & Testing
Job Description The successful candidate will participate in equipment acceptance testing, commissioning, and evaluation of proposed changes to equipment/machinery for safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and equipment vendors for design and commissioning activities.
Conduct equipment safety buyoffs with cross‑functional teams.
Complete risk assessments in accordance with
ISO 12100
and company standards.
Ensure compliance with
ISO 13849
requirements (hands‑on field experience required).
Actively support development of equipment safety standards and continuous improvement of existing standards.
Identify safety opportunities and recommend corrective actions.
Create and deliver safety training related to equipment and machinery.
Maintain detailed records of equipment compliance.
Partner with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) staff as needed.
Participate in learning teams, investigations, inspections, audits, and related activities.
Required Qualifications
Strong experience with
industrial machinery .
Demonstrated familiarity with mechanical, electrical, automation, and control system design.
Hands‑on experience with
ISO 13849 or NFPA 79 & ANSI B11 .
Knowledge of
ANSI, UL, NFPA, ISO
and other applicable standards.
Experience interpreting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic safety circuits, including performance level and circuit structure evaluation.
Comprehensive knowledge of electrical circuit design in accordance with
NEC, UL 508a, and NFPA 79 .
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP/CFSE).
Certified Machine Safety Expert.
Experience in
battery/EV manufacturing .
Working knowledge of hazardous area classifications, occupancy classification, and hazardous material inventories.
