We’re seeking a highly motivated Equipment Safety Engineer to support the design, testing, and commissioning of industrial machinery and equipment at a leading advanced manufacturing facility. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and equipment vendors to ensure all new and modified machinery meets rigorous safety and compliance standards. This position is ideal for someone technically strong, detail-oriented, and passionate about advancing equipment safety in a fast-paced industrial environment. Key Responsibilities
Partner with engineering, operations, and equipment vendors to support design, installation, and commissioning of machinery and automation systems. Conduct detailed equipment safety buyoffs with cross-functional teams. Perform equipment risk assessments in alignment with ISO 12100 and company safety standards. Develop and continuously improve equipment safety standards, procedures, and guidelines. Identify safety improvement opportunities and recommend effective corrective actions. Deliver training sessions related to equipment and machinery safety. Maintain detailed records of equipment compliance and safety validation activities. Collaborate with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) teams during inspections, investigations, and audits. Required Qualifications
Proven experience with industrial machinery and hands‑on participation in safety buyoffs and commissioning. Strong familiarity with mechanical, electrical, automation, and control system design. Working knowledge of ANSI, UL, NFPA, ISO, and related safety standards. Ability to interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic safety circuits, evaluate performance levels, and assess circuit structure. Comprehensive understanding of NEC, UL 508A, and NFPA 79. Practical field experience applying ISO 13849, NFPA 79, and ANSI B11 standards. Preferred Qualifications
Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP) or Certified Functional Safety Expert (CFSE). Certified Machine Safety Expert (CMSE) certification. Experience in battery manufacturing, EV production, or advanced industrial automation environments. Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and hazardous material inventories.
