Compensation
Base pay range: $80,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr Overview
Product Development Manager — Bare Home, Forest Lake, Minnesota, United States. The role leads the textile product portfolio from concept to launch, optimizing existing lines and driving cost efficiency. Requires 8-10 years in textile product development with experience across international supplier networks. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Product Leadership: develop and execute product strategies for bedding, mattresses, and related soft goods; lead new product initiatives; present business cases to CEO and senior leadership; manage and optimize mature product lines; drive process and document improvements for internal and external partners. Product Development & Technical Expertise: oversee all stages from concept to production; approve final specifications, samples, and color; apply knowledge of materials, manufacturing, and international capabilities; guide cost engineering to optimize profitability while maintaining quality; collaborate with contracted QC and sourcing teams; manage packaging and stay current on textile technologies and compliance. Vendor, Sourcing & Compliance Collaboration: vet and negotiate with vendors; leverage contracted QC and sourcing teams; guide suppliers on best practices; manage vendor relationships; coordinate testing and certifications; adapt to geopolitical and market shifts. Team Management & Cross-Functional Leadership: lead a small PD team; conduct performance reviews and development; collaborate with Quality Control, Marketing, Creative, Supply Chain and Sourcing; foster continuous improvement; coordinate across time zones. Process & Operations: establish efficient product development processes; manage department resources, budgets, and timelines; use project management systems to track progress; monitor KPIs such as on-time delivery and budget adherence. Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Product Development, Design, Fashion Merchandising, or related field 8-10 years of product development experience in textiles, soft goods, or bedding 3-5 years of management experience leading product development teams Proven track record of launches and portfolio management; international sourcing experience with knowledge of China, India, Pakistan, and Turkey Technical & Industry Expertise Knowledge of textile manufacturing processes, quality standards, and material specifications Understanding of soft goods construction from fabric to finished product Strong color vision and packaging/textile acumen Experience creating and specifying packaging; knowledge of country-specific manufacturing capabilities and quality considerations Familiarity with Oeko-Tex certification, testing, packaging, labeling requirements Cost analysis, margin optimization, and value engineering Proficiency with PLM systems; advanced MS Office, Adobe, and project management software Strategic & Analytical Skills Financial acumen to manage budgets and drive profitability Data-driven decision making; ability to balance creativity and business objectives Strong project management and ability to manage multiple launches Strategic thinker who translates market opportunities into plans Risk management and ability to navigate supply chain and geopolitical factors Personal Qualities Entrepreneurial mindset with adaptability Leadership and mentoring abilities; excellent communication and executive presentation skills Decisive, resilient, collaborative, and detail-oriented Experience working with international partners across time zones Benefits
