Position: Patient Access Representative I Location: Chicago, IL Full-Time (40 hours) Hours: Monday - Friday 8am – 4:30pm, Rotating weekends Rotating Holidays Required Travel: no Job Summary
Greets and assists all patients, visitors, physicians and employees in a friendly, courteous and professional manner. Accurately and efficiently completes registration for patients in Admitting, Outpatient Registration and in the Emergency Department. Verifies demographic information, insurance benefits and eligibility. What You Will Do
Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of Swedish Covenant Hospital and demonstrates a service orientation and adheres to all responsibilities and standards of the Hospital. Greets and assists all patients, visitors, physicians and employees promptly and in a friendly, courteous and professional manner. Accurately and efficiently completes patient registration, all other Meditech routines and other system processes, as defined by job assignment. Verifies insurance benefits and eligibility. When applicable, pre-authorizes and/or obtains referrals to assure reimbursement and minimize denials. Explains consent forms thoroughly. Uses interpretive services when appropriate. Obtains signatures. Completes and maintains logs, lists and other statistical information. Works effectively as a member of the team. Demonstrates flexibility with schedule. What You Will Need
Education: Minimum high school graduate or equivalent; prefer minimum one year college course work. Experience: Minimum six months experience in hospital or clinic registration/admitting, scheduling, patient financial services or medical records departments, or in a medical/physician practice setting. Unique or Preferred Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills. Ability to interact and communicate positively and effectively with multiple departments. Benefits
