Overview
Operating Room Surgical Technologist role at Emory Healthcare.
Location Emory Orthopedic and Spine Hospital, 1455 Montreal Rd NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30084.
Shift Full Time, 6:30a-7:00p with required on-call.
Responsibilities
Implements and evaluates care of patients undergoing diagnostic and invasive surgical procedures.
Keeps the perioperative team abreast of procedure needs and progress.
Identifies more complex patient needs by reviewing procedure protocol, physician requests, and assessing the patient\'s physical needs.
Prioritizes procedure process and supplies for a specialty group of patients.
Plans for surgical procedures based on identified needs of surgeon and patient, implementing interventions as related to surgical procedure and patient needs.
Utilizes appropriate standards of care and/or collaborative clinical pathways to guide the plan of care.
Determines equipment, materials, and resources needed to meet the patient procedure plan.
Participates in identifying cost containment activities; monitors and maintains supplies and initiates purchases to ensure par levels.
Completes hospital and department-based orientation programs and participates in educational programs to develop knowledge in area of specialty.
Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent job training; certification in Surgical Technology preferred.
Two years multispecialty experience; must be able to function as a clinical expert in at least one service line and have the ability to float to other service lines as needed.
Specialty areas include: Complex GYN, Complex Ortho/Spine, ENT, General Surgery, Ophthalmology (Corneal; Retina), Robotics, Thoracic and Vascular.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification as required by the American Heart Association.
