This position offers up to $30,000 in Signing Bonus for external candidates.
Position Summary:
The diagnostic sonographer utilizes high-frequency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques for medical diagnosis. Education, License & Cert:
ARRT/RDMS certification or certification eligible required: If certification eligible, must pass certification within 12 months of hire date. Essential Functions: Performs the scanning examination requested by the referring physician, modifying the examination depending on the findings demonstrated, and reviews the examination with the supervising radiologist. Assists the radiologist or clinician in special procedures such as percutaneous fluid aspiration or biopsy procedures. Performs routine equipment checks for resolution and other quality control procedures, as necessary. Must be able to react quickly to emergency situations such as patient fainting, patient being unsteady while getting onto the scanning table, or unsafe situations like fire, by getting the patient to safety and sounding the alarm. Ability to work alone and complete tasks efficiently. Must be able to lift, push, reach, bend, stop, and walk to care for patients. Develops and processes permanent film records of the examination or verifies images are sent to PACs. Maintains an inventory of coupling agent, film, drugs, and other supplies, and requisitions supplies and materials as needed. Maintains sterile instruments, cleans and re-sterilizes them or returns them to central supply for sterilization and storage. Teaches ultrasound techniques to student technologists. Willing to accept non-routine work assignments as appropriate. Some specialties will be included in call rotation on a scheduled basis, and the candidate must be able to be on call and in the department within 1 hour after being called for a procedure. Must be able to sit/stand for prolonged periods (usually 30-60 minutes per patient).
