In addition to medical assisting, provides administrative tasks as needed, including but not limited to greeting, check-in, and scheduling. Assists patients who have physical and psychological limitations with ambulation and patient care functions. Performs room turnover, room restocking, transport of patients as needed. Performs medical assisting duties which may include vital signs, height and weight, EKGs, phlebotomy, and assisting during routine procedures; ensure patient care areas are clean, organized, stocked, and ready for patient use; escort patients to radiology and lab as needed. Performs point of care testing, quality control, provides instructions for tests and procedures. Monitors, orders and maintains medical equipment and supplies, ensuring cleanliness, sterilization, stocking and expiry control. Reviews medication lists in the EMR; may retrieve Schedule VI and OTC meds under supervision; not authorized to perform licensed personnel duties. Uses the EMR to queue prescription renewals; as directed, enters/scribes orders; documents tasks for billing. Prepares schedules, patient charts, and documents for clinical activities; procures and correlates medical correspondence. Monitors patient flow and waiting area; communicates delays; acts as liaison between patient and staff; may answer and screen calls. Required Qualifications
High School diploma or GED. Basic computer familiarity; ability to navigate web-based applications. At least 5 months of direct patient care experience in a clinical or research setting (e.g., MA, PCT, CNA; nursing or medical student with one clinical rotation). Preferred Qualifications
MA, EMT, CNA or LNA certificate, or Associate Degree in Medical Assisting Phlebotomy certificate Beth Israel Lahey Health requires that all staff be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.
