The Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center provides a rich environment for basic, clinical, and translational research and supports a diverse faculty. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Program includes 21 faculty members and 8 advanced practice providers. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated clinical expertise in pediatric leukemia and lymphoma and a track record of involvement in pediatric cancer clinical trials. Aflac faculty are part of the Winship Comprehensive Cancer Institute and the Emory University School of Medicine. The center collaborates with researchers at Winship, Emory University, and Georgia Tech, and collaboration across departments is encouraged. Proposed Clinical Role
Clinical Role: Devote effort to the care of patients with leukemia and lymphoma at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center located at Arthur M. Blank Hospital. Serve as attending on the inpatient service and provide weekly care in the outpatient clinic. Provide exemplary clinical service ensuring high-quality patient care. Demonstrate ongoing excellence in clinical medicine and teaching. Contribute to the education and training program of the pediatric Hem/Onc/BMT Division, including medicine students, residents, fellows, and occasionally physicians in practice. Proposed Research Role
Continue to develop your research, quality improvement, teaching, and administrative activities within LL program activities under mentorship from Dr. Sharon Castellino and other LL faculty. Publish research in peer-reviewed journals and develop a basis for grant funding. Seek and maintain extramural funding to support your research program. Emory School of Medicine expects that after the start-up period (four years), 65% of research FTE will be funded by extramural sources. This position offers opportunities for research and quality initiative collaborations within the Department of Pediatrics, with Emory’s NCI-designated Winship Cancer Institute, basic science departments, the Rollins School of Public Health, the American Cancer Society, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Georgia Tech. Qualifications
MD, MD/PhD, or DO degrees Board Certified in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Currently licensed as a physician and eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia Ability to work collaboratively on nationally recognized pediatric oncology research History of clinical excellence and achievement Strong history of teaching and mentoring trainees and junior faculty The salary and rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments. The position primarily focuses on clinical service and administrative duties (minimum 80% clinical effort). Additional Details
