We’re proud to announce the opening of a new medical oncology and hematology clinic, along with expanded chemotherapy infusion services, at our flagship center at 1221 Pleasant St., Des Moines. This growth includes the addition of three medical oncologists and two nurse practitioners, and we’re looking for compassionate, skilled Registered Nurses to join our team and help deliver exceptional, specialized cancer care to Central Iowa. Responsibilities

Answer questions and provide teaching to patients and families regarding health maintenance and medical illnesses (as appropriate to scope and licensure) Document information in the patient’s electronic health record; complete patient forms and requests for medical records/correspondence Schedule referrals for patients with specialists or outpatient services; complete forms or requisitions for referrals or lab testing Assess needs of patients and families; provide teaching and referrals to ensure continuity of care Assist provider with patient examinations, procedures and emergencies Provide and document advice for home care; conduct follow-up calls as directed by the provider Perform diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures Prepare and assist with examinations, specimen collection, minor procedures, and treatment including medication administration under supervision Prioritize patient and workplace safety; report potential concerns promptly Understand testing values and relationship to patient status; take next steps as directed Demonstrate initiative to improve quality and customer service Understand inpatient and outpatient specialty procedures; comply with precertification requirements Use protocols to triage patient concerns and seek provider direction as needed Maintain inventory for clinical supplies Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of accredited nursing program; English fluency Experience:

One year of Oncology experience preferred License/Certification:

Registered Nurse licensure in Iowa; BLS; commitment to obtain OCN or Oncology-focused continuing education within 2 years; Oncology certification (OCN) preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Critical thinking, independent judgment, multicultural sensitivity, English literacy Other:

Use of usual and customary equipment to perform essential functions
