Weekend Option - Days (Sat/Sun) 6:30am - 7:00pm Summary
The Weekend CT Technologist is responsible for producing cross-sectional images to diagnose disease processes. Procedures may be performed at various locations throughout the Main Campus, West Plaza, Medical Office Building, Westwood, and Olathe. The role requires participating in ongoing training and education and a minimum commitment of 12 months with completion of an orientation training program. Responsibilities And Essential Job Functions
Act as a liaison for communication between departments and assist with approved special projects within Radiology Department leadership guidance. Assist in developing continuing education strategies to enrich the CT department staff. Provide teaching and learning opportunities to fellow technologists and students. Ensure staff operate equipment safely and in accordance with policies, procedures, and protocols. Operate CT scanners and auxiliary devices within designated locations; maintain radiation exposure to achieve the lowest reasonable dose for image quality as overseen by staff radiologists. Maintain organized patient flow, coordinate examinations efficiently, and minimize patient stay in the hospital. Demonstrate knowledge of contrast reactions and respond promptly to patient needs. Complete mandatory educational assignments as directed by supervisors. Perform routine CT procedures at a high standard and expand capability for specialty studies with experience. Set equipment parameters, assess patients, educate patients, prepare patients, and provide venous access for contrast administration. Support the Mission and Vision of KU Hospital and strive for world-class status. Other duties as required; perform professional, clinical and/or technical competencies of the unit or department. Required:
Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology; experience performing basic CT procedures. Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; 1-3 years of large facility experience. Licensure And Certification
CT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) - Kansas Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA) within 90 days Radiography (R) - ARRT Knowledge Requirements
Computer skills related to RIS, PACS, EMR Time Type
