Overview
Senior Physician Assistant - Roseville Urgent Care/Emergency (Evening/32) at Kaiser Permanente. Under the direction of a supervising physician, the Senior Physician Assistant provides high quality, efficient, team based patient focused care. Responsibilities may include managing patients in the office, hospital, ED and/or perioperative setting. May be required to first assist in the OR or perform other department specific procedures. May facilitate on call responsibilities for the supervising physician. Daily responsibilities may vary based upon the department and supervising physician needs and may require evening or weekend hours. The Senior Physician Assistant, by virtue of experience and competency, provides a high level of clinical and operational expertise and may function as a mentor to less experienced Physician Assistants. Practice as part of a team under the direction of their supervising physician. Primary duties include, but are not limited to: Examine patients, perform comprehensive physical examinations, and compile patient medical data (health history and results of physical examination). Administer or order diagnostic tests (imaging studies, electrocardiogram, laboratory tests) and interpret results for deviations from normal. Perform therapeutic procedures (injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care) and manage infections; perform other department specific diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and assist in continuity of care. Instruct and counsel patients regarding prescribed regimens, growth and development, family planning, daily living needs, and health maintenance and patient education. Facilitate admissions, transfers, discharges as applicable; first assist in surgeries or perform procedures as required; round on inpatients. Perform admission evaluations (history, examination, documentation) and provide pre-operative education; discuss surgery, recovery, and risk factor modification with patients and families. Assist in surgical procedures and other procedures per standards of care; may serve as First Assist, start IVs, and/or perform suturing depending on specialty. Document post-operative orders and support evaluation and management during recovery; review vital signs, labs, and diagnostic studies; assist with patient management and discharge/transfer summaries in a timely manner. Collaborate with supervising physician, manager, and other department members on performance improvement activities. Qualifications
Basic Qualifications Minimum three (3) years of experience as a Physician Assistant within the last five (5) years. Education Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program. License, Certification, Registration Physician Assistant License (California) required at hire National Provider Identifier required at hire Physician Assistant National Certificate required at hire Basic Life Support (BLS) required Additional Requirements Fluoroscopy Permit required, or must be obtained within 18 months from the date of hire in Orthopedics, Interventional Radiology, and Radiation Oncology only. May be required to have experience and competency in department-specific tasks. Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
