ABOUT LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES: The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is the second largest municipal health system in the nation, operating 25 health centers and four acute care hospitals, providing health care to youth in the juvenile justice system and inmates in the LA County jails. : To advance the health of our patients and our communities by providing extraordinary care. DEFINITION Provides comprehensive in-service education services to a nursing organization. Manage and provide oversight to various EMS Programs. Administrative responsibility for planning, analyzing, developing and implementing the Quality Improvement program. Reviews audit and monitoring tools on an ongoing basis. Performs administrative work related to role as Emerging Infectious Disease and Healthcare Recovery and Business Continuity Program Manager. Participates in delivery of other EMS Agency classes. Coordinates and manages the Ebola Preparedness and Response Activities grant program. Coordinates and manages Healthcare Continuity and Recovery Program. Participates and represents the EMS Agency in meetings for disaster preparedness. Approve and monitor performance of Paramedic Training Programs. Provide oversight of the Continuing Education (CE) Program. Coordinates and manages preparedness program involving various healthcare sectors. Develops medical surge capabilities with healthcare sectors. Mentors ambulance services staff to promote quality care. Evaluates ambulance staff clinical care provision. Ensures public safety by monitoring EMS Provider Agencies. Develops/revises policies and procedures based on QI program findings. Provides continuing education training for AS Ambulance Drivers and Medical Technicians. Responsible for lecture development/review/revision. Maintain operations and surge to provide acute medical care during emergencies. Responsible for managing the acute care sector under LA County’s Hospital Preparedness Program. Provide leadership in planning, implementing and evaluating disaster preparedness projects. Provide overall coordination of the prehospital data collection and management process. Supports other EMS activities. SELECTION REQUIREMENTS: Two (2) years of nursing education experience as a nursing instructor or equivalent. -AND- A license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing. LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION INFORMATION: To compete in this examination process, applicants must have a license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Additional experience as a nursing instructor or its equivalent. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited nursing program. A Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN) certification. PHYSICAL CLASS:
