The Outpatient Retail Pharmacist is responsible for fulfilling all regulatory requirements related to the dispensation of prescription drugs. The pharmacist will assist with care coordination for discharged patients and fill prescriptions for patients at nearby clinics. They are ultimately responsible for medication safety and the dispensation of prescription drugs. The pharmacist will support outpatient pharmacy technicians in filling and checking medications and assist with telephone calls, refills, and ensuring patients receive their medications. Although not a direct supervisor, the pharmacist is expected to guide pharmacy technicians to optimize pharmacy operations. In case of prescription errors, the pharmacist must correct and intervene. Both pharmacists and technicians are expected to act professionally at all times.
