Overview
A Nurse midwife provides comprehensive care to women across their lifespan, including pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and gynecological services. This role blends the art of compassionate care with the science of obstetrics, focusing on holistic, evidence-based care and patient-centered decision-making. A Nurse midwife works independently and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of care for mothers and newborns. Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of experience in maternal and newborn care or labor and delivery nursing Strong knowledge of obstetrics, neonatal care, and women's health issues Ability to perform clinical procedures related to midwifery Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records EMR systems Certifications
Master\'s or Doctoral Degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP) with a specialization in Midwifery Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse RN license Certified Nurse Midwife CNM certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board AMCB Basic Life Support BLS and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support ACLS certifications Schedule
M-F 9a-5p Labor and Delivery coverage as needed Essential Functions
Provide comprehensive prenatal care, including physical exams, assessments, prenatal education, childbirth preparation, and emotional support Monitor fetal development, assess maternal and fetal well-being, and promote healthy pregnancy through education on lifestyle and nutrition Conduct routine and emergency procedures during labor and delivery, manage complications, assist with pain management, and ensure a safe birth environment Provide immediate newborn care, including assessments and promoting early parent infant bonding Offer postpartum care, including physical recovery monitoring, breastfeeding support, family planning, and addressing postpartum complications or concerns Deliver gynecological care, including routine exams, screenings, diagnosis, and treatment of various gynecological conditions, and managing menopausal symptoms Offer education and counseling on reproductive health, family planning, STIs, and preconception health Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation using Electronic Medical Records EMR systems Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care Participate in continuous quality improvement activities, staying updated on the latest research and advancements in midwifery and maternal care May participate in community outreach and public health education programs Other Duties
