Responsibilities
Work under the supervision of Assisted Living Operator and Assisted Living Nurse; care for the Assisted Living residents according to level needed.
Dispense medication in a safe and timely manner to residents requiring this service.
Practice the Five Rights of Medication Administration: Right resident, Right medication, Right time, Right route, Right dose.
Observe and report any change in resident's condition to Charge Nurse.
Take vital signs as ordered.
Maintain a clean and well-stocked medication cart; document medication administration according to Bethany Home Assisted Living policy.
Understand and maintain confidentiality.
Manage routine chores, such as laundry and housekeeping, as needed.
Have knowledge of, and pass medications as ordered by physician.
Take vital signs as ordered.
Observe for possible need for PRN medication and report observations to Assisted Living Nurse; administer PRN medications as ordered by the Assisted Living Nurse.
Understand possible side effects and interactions of medications.
Maintain a clean and well-stocked medication cart.
Understand and maintain confidentiality.
Understand Bethany Home Assisted Living's policies on abuse prevention, safety, fire safety, and severe weather safety.
Implement infection control practices according to Bethany Home Association policy.
Understand and document according to Bethany Home Association policy.
Complete all assigned in-service training.
Assure medication certification is current at all times.
All other assigned duties.
Physical Demands
Strength: Medium – exerting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, or negligible-10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Standing or Walking: Constantly (activity exists up to 2/3 or more of the time).
Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching or Crawling: Occasionally (activity exists less than 1/3 of the time).
Reaching, Handling, Fingering or Feeling: Frequently (activity exists 1/3-2/3 of the time).
Talking or Hearing: Constantly (activity exists up to 2/3 of the time).
Taste/Smell: Frequently (activity exists 1/3-2/3 of the time).
Near Acuity, Field of Vision, or Depth Perception: Constantly (activity exists 2/3 or more of the time).

Education And Experience State of Kansas Nurse’s Aide Certification and Medication Aide Certification.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Knowledge and practice of the five rights of medication administration; knowledge of possible side effects and interactions of medication.
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks; document according to Bethany Home Assisted Living policy.
Observe changes in resident condition and possible need for PRN medications; report to the Assisted Living Nurse and administer PRN medications as ordered.
Ability to work well with people, including staff, residents, families and visitors.
Knowledge and practice of Bethany Home Assisted Living safety procedures, and infection control practices.
