Lead RN - SUD

The HealthCare Connection (THCC) Location: Cincinnati, OH THCC is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) team. In this role, you will provide direct patient care, education, and support for individuals in recovery. You will administer MAT services, promote harm reduction strategies, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes and overall community health.
Responsibilities
Administer MAT medications (buprenorphine, naltrexone) per provider orders and protocols.
Conduct nursing assessments, monitor for withdrawal/adverse reactions, and provide interventions.
Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, side effects, and adherence.
Document care accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) to ensure compliance.
Provide harm reduction education, including overdose prevention, safe injection, and naloxone use.
Offer ongoing support for recovery challenges, cravings, and co-occurring behavioral health needs.
Refer patients to behavioral health services and community resources as appropriate.
Collaborate with providers, addiction counselors, social workers, and case managers on individualized care plans.
Address social determinants of health impacting treatment (housing, transportation, etc.).
Facilitate referrals to appropriate levels of care (detox, inpatient, outpatient).
Connect patients with recovery support services, peer groups, and behavioral health counseling.
Support outreach efforts for high-risk populations and partner with community organizations to reduce stigma and expand access to care.
Contribute to initiatives serving refugee health programs and the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program.
Participate in quality improvement projects to enhance MAT and SUD service delivery.
Assist in developing policies and staff training on SUD, MAT, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
Current RN licensure in the state of Ohio (copy of license must be attached to application).
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred (copy of degree must be attached to application).
Minimum 2 years’ experience in behavioral health, addiction services, or related clinical setting.
Familiarity with MAT protocols, harm reduction strategies, and SUD treatment models.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to maintain accurate EHR documentation and regulatory compliance.
Preferred:
Certification in addictions nursing (CARN) or willingness to obtain.
Experience with trauma-informed care and motivational interviewing.
Knowledge of Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills a plus.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, kneel, stoop, and lift/move up to 25 pounds.
Requires close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Work is performed in an office/clinical setting.
