MyMichigan Health . Summary: This position performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist should have knowledge about Nuclear Medicine Instrumentation, Radiopharmacy, radiopharmaceuticals, and radiation safety practices. Responsibilities

Injects and administers radiopharmaceuticals; assays radiopharmaceutical activities; calculates volume and activity concentrations; enters records in a dose tracking system; performs laboratory procedures related to radiopharmaceuticals. Understanding of Nuclear Medicine protocols and procedures; positions patients on equipment per protocol; monitors patients during procedures. Intravenous (IV) access starting skills; site selection; aseptic techniques when accessing patients. Operates Nuclear Medicine Instrumentation devices; knowledge of quality control requirements for equipment. Understands Radiation Safety regulations and procedures; applies them diligently. Ability to work ON CALL shift hours and various shift/weekend hours as scheduled. Wear radiation monitoring devices during exposures; prepare images and reports for diagnosis; adjust technical factors to obtain appropriate images. Perform clerical functions (scheduling, patient history, forms, statistics); initiate requisitions and modify charges; update patient demographics in RIS and PACS. Recognize and report equipment malfunctions; attend in-service educational programs and departmental meetings; perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Certifications and Licensures BLS: Basic Life Support ARRT N: Nuclear Medicine; Registry eligible (ARRT (N) or CNMT) with credentialing within one year of hire or transfer Required Education Associate Degree or Degree in Healthcare Related Field; knowledge of Nuclear Medicine Technology and 1700 hours of clinical instruction; two years of clinical experience as a Nuclear Medicine technologist; RIS/HIS knowledge preferred. Experience, Training And Skills Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology Didactic and Clinical Competency program; continuing education; interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with diverse groups. Physical/Mental Requirements

Exposure to stressful situations including trauma, grief, and death; able to wear PPE as required; mobility with or without assisted devices; good vision and hearing with or without assistance. Frequent standing/walking; postural changes; exposure to bloodborne pathogens; ability to handle multiple tasks; regular and predictable attendance; overall dexterity for handling, reaching, grasping, and finger/hand use. Physical Demand Level: Medium. Lift/carry up to 50 lbs as applicable; frequent lifting; occasional over 50 lbs in some tasks. Other Information
