Overview

Physician Assistant position at Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, Washington. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Joint Base Lewis-McChord and affiliated clinics are located at Fort Lewis, Washington, near Tacoma. Madigan AMC is one of three designated Level Two trauma centers within the U.S. Medical Command. Department of Medicine, Primary Care at Madigan Army Medical Center in Washington State. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Responsibilities

Independently perform a variety of professional direct health care clinical duties within the field of general family medicine. Perform duties involving the full range of complex medical care that involve isolating and defining unknown medical conditions. Secure comprehensive and detailed health and medical history from the patient or a family member, record findings, and other ancillary materials. Examine patients and perform initial patient work-up and assessment of patients\' care and treatment. Determine the need for and orders laboratory tests, X-rays, and other procedures necessary to complete assessment of the patient. Discriminate between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional, or mental problems. Write prescriptions, order the administration of medications, dispense medication and prescribe controlled substances in accordance with scope of practice for Physician Assistants. Provide consultation, teaching, and coordination with patients and their family members regarding treatment and medical care. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Who May Apply

US Citizens Basic Requirements

Education: Graduation from a physician assistant educational program accredited by ARC-PA or predecessors, at an institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Certification: Successful completion of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) examination; maintain status as a certified physician assistant, including continuing medical education (CME) and re-certification. Licensure: Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician Assistant from a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory. Licensure must be uploaded. Exemption available for current federal employees occupying the 0603 occupational series since 2017, with documentation. Requirements

In addition to basic requirements, qualified applicants must meet the following: GS-12 Experience: A minimum of one full year of work experience as a certified physician assistant which includes obtaining medical history, performing examinations, prescribing medication, and conducting medical decision making. This is typical of the second lower grade in federal service (GS-11). Education

Foreign education: If using foreign education to meet qualifications, credentials must be evaluated for equivalence by a recognized organization or full credit given for courses in a U.S. accredited institution.
