General Cleaner Macy's Northpark Center - Dallas at BlueChip Pros. Primary purpose: To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in clean, sanitary and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment. Responsibilities

High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, begin cleaning in a counter clockwise direction around the room — high dust surfaces above shoulder height (lights above doors, curtain tips, vents and ledges). Cleaning the High Duster: Gently brush in a downward direction into service cart. Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, work in a counter clockwise direction around room, sanitizing surfaces below shoulder height (ledges, chairs, telephone, countertops and trashcans). Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls. Spot clean windows. Bathroom Cleaning: Using germicidal solution, wipe down in the following order: above and below sink; toilet seat and the outside of the toilet bowl. The inside of the toilet should be cleaned with a Johnnie Mop and proper germicidal solution. Check soap dispensers and paper dispensers daily and refill as needed. Empty Trash Cans: If liquid is inside the can, remove the liner and wipe the can. Place a clean liner in the trash can. Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Use a treated dust mophead, start at the back of the room using the "S" stroke, dust under all furniture and in restrooms, and vacuum starting at the back toward the door, ensuring you reach under chairs and other furniture. Grounds care: Outside areas should be cleaned and checked several times during the day. Empty and clean ash urns/trash cans; police sidewalks, flower beds and curb line for trash and cigarette butts; spot clean spills on sidewalk; remove gum with scraper; wipe benches and lower window ledges; dust for cobwebs; clean public area glass as necessary; police parking lot for trash. Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop main hallways; ensure glass is cleaned several times during the day; clean planters; check for cob webs and high dusting of window areas at least twice per week; check corners and edges for dirt and debris. Food Court: Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables; place chairs back under tables; spot clean for spills; empty and clean trash cans; remove accumulated dirty trays to wash room and clean using tray power washer; stack clean trays on shelf for recycled use; police outside eating areas. Floor Sanitizing: Use proper germicidal solution; start at the back of the room when sanitizing the floor and mop under furniture and behind doors as you back out of the room. Your Inspection: After completing the room, review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement; make corrections as needed to prevent problems/complaints. General upkeep: Hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, walls – high dusting done daily; ensure customer relations and service standards are maintained. Customer Relations and Service: Knock lightly on doors before entering if occupied; be friendly and courteous; answer questions or refer to supervisor; report anything broken to supervisor; work quietly and maintain a neat appearance; complete work assignments or report to supervisor if unfinished. Other duties as assigned by supervisor/account manager (may include floor care such as stripping/waxing, carpet extraction/bonneting, auto scrub and buffing). Qualifications

Knowledge of basic janitorial operations, methods, materials and equipment; basic safe work practices; use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets). Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; communicate with co-workers and supervisors; operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment; interpret cleaning chemical labels; maintain physical condition to perform duties (standing/walking, lifting 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling 5-35 lbs, climbing stairs, bending, kneeling/crawling, reaching, and depth perception).
