Mechanical Design Engineer
Actalent – Full onsite, Gainesville, FL. Contract, Entry level.
Salary: $60,000 – $75,000 per year.

Responsibilities
Design and test engines, air compressors, coolers, and power transmission components.
Develop pipe and hose layouts for cooling systems and create engine/compressor mount designs.
Document all designs with 3‑D models, detailed drawings, and Bills of Material (BOM).
Lead technical aspects of assigned products or projects and ensure project deadlines are met.
Maintain BOM accuracy using Teamcenter PLM software.
Perform engineering calculations related to materials and machine components.
Produce detailed drawings with welding instructions, dimensions, and tolerances.
Participate in cross‑functional design reviews and collaborate with system leads to ensure design quality and standards.
Write Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) for design updates or revisions.
Coordinate with Production, Purchasing, Sales, and Customer Service departments.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering (or related field). Master’s degree preferred.
2–5 years of experience in mechanical design or product engineering for heavy equipment.
Knowledge of engineering mechanics, engines, hydraulics, air compressors, and power transmission.
Proficiency in 3‑D CAD software (preferably Unigraphics‑NX).
Understanding of engineering standards, design/drafting practices, GD&T, and finite element analysis (basic FEA).
Strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Skills
Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic system design.
Familiarity with engines, compressors, and coolers.
Ability to read and create air/hydraulic schematics.
Experience with hydraulic actuators, pumps, valves, and vibration analysis of rotating components.
Knowledge of large welded structures and mobile equipment, especially drilling equipment.
