Field Service Engineer – Mitsubishi Power Americas

Overview The Field Service Engineer I will be responsible for traveling to customer power plants to support both planned and forced maintenance activities on essential power generation equipment. Work is typically performed around the clock and concludes after the customer is back online. The Field Service Engineer I applies field service engineering techniques and procedures throughout the installation, modification, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of gas turbines, steam turbines, and generators.
Key Responsibilities
Demonstrates core competencies: action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self and others, ownership.
Lead Field Outage Service teams on assigned shifts at customer power plants to support installation, repair, analysis, and operation of combustion turbines, turbine-generators, and supporting auxiliary equipment during both planned and forced maintenance outages.
Understand fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of industrial combustion turbine outage maintenance.
Under immediate supervision, perform standard tasks using established methods, principles, concepts and procedures related to combustion turbine outage maintenance.
Heavy overnight travel (at least 80%) by land and/or air; work long hours for extended periods as required.
Assist technical and non-technical personnel at the job site in determining company responsibilities and actions; assign work to other technical/professional personnel as necessary.
Able to learn to work as floor engineer on outage maintenance for industrial large frame gas turbine combustors, turbine, and major inspections on OEM and non-OEM equipment.
Able to learn to direct and manage supervisors, mechanical specialists, and sub-contractors during maintenance outages.
Interface with customer personnel to coordinate work and provide routine progress updates; interpret and apply drawings, field procedures, and technical documents to open/close activities.
Assist with outage planning by supporting customer walkdowns, pre-outage planning meetings, and liaising with internal stakeholders for outage execution preparations.
Prepare and issue standard field service documentation (timesheets, evaluations, turnover, expense reports, technical documentation, etc.).
Review and understand complex contracts, work scopes, and division of responsibilities; prepare outage planning material (service/equipment vendor confirmation, technical documentation preparation).
Prepare and submit accurate reports regarding conditions, required actions, and obtained results; perform other duties as required.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering from a four-year college or university; and at least one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of engineering concepts, practices, and procedures for turbine outage maintenance.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents, contracts, and work scopes.
Ability to analyze problems, collect and interpret data, and draw valid conclusions.
Experience using scheduling and project management tools.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with all organizational levels and customers.
Valid driver’s license and passport.
Ability to travel extensively and work extended hours as required.
Physical & Safety Requirements Safety is a top priority. All employees are expected to uphold high EH&S standards and follow safety protocols, including proper use of PPE. This role requires regular standing, walking, bending, talking, and hearing; frequent lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
