role at

Base Power Company . Base is building the foundation of American power. The grid is the largest, most complex machine in the world. It’s aging, struggling to keep up with today’s demand, and is unprepared for our electrified future. About Base

Base is modernizing the grid as the first engineering-led, technology-driven power company. We’re deploying a nationwide network of distributed batteries that strengthens critical infrastructure and saves Americans money. Our team of engineers, operators, creatives, technicians, and electricians design and deploy systems at speed. If you want to tackle the problem that will define this century and shape the future of American energy, now is the time. Join us. About The Role

The Validation team at Base is responsible for ensuring our power systems, inverters, and batteries perform reliably in the real world. As a Validation Engineer, you will establish and lead the validation function, building the tools, processes, and team that allow Base to deliver trusted, high-quality products at scale. You will work closely with R&D, Supply Chain, and Quality Engineering to define what “reliable” means for our systems, and then prove it through rigorous testing. This is an opportunity to shape how validation is done at Base, from first principles to implementation. What You\'ll Do

Define and own Base’s validation strategy, building a robust framework that scales with product complexity and fleet growth. Lead the development of validation protocols for inverters, batteries, and power systems using thermal chambers, high-power supplies, and advanced test equipment. Architect and oversee the development of validation automation software and infrastructure. Ensure requirements and test management systems are versioned, consistent, and reliable across teams. Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve validation findings, influence design decisions, and improve product reliability. Generate and communicate detailed validation reports to support compliance, certification, and executive decision-making. Required Skills / Qualifications

A systems-level mindset and passion for building reliable, resilient products. 5+ years of experience in software or electromechanical validation, with significant time spent on power systems, hardware, or embedded products. Expertise with validation equipment (thermal chambers, high-power supplies, DAQ systems) and test automation frameworks. Experience leading validation programs from concept through production release. Strong background in requirements and test management systems, version control, and process discipline. Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence technical decisions across disciplines. Proven ability to build, lead, and mentor high-performing engineering teams. Our Values

In-Person Only: We work full-time in the office. No hybrid. No remote. Challenge the Status Quo: Question assumptions. Fix broken systems. Principles > rules. Move Fast: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing. Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble. Challenge ideas–including your own. Own the Outcome: Take full responsibility. Deliver results. No excuses. Act Like an Owner: Be resourceful, mindful of impact, and committed to the business. Be Decisive: Drive clarity. Make bold calls with imperfect info. Bring the Intensity: This is not a 9-to-5. We\'re building something hard which requires real commitment. Seniority level
