Senior Civil Estimator
Join Lexicon, Inc. as a Senior Civil Estimator to lead cost estimation on large-scale civil construction projects, including earthworks, site development, foundations, roads, bridges, and infrastructure.
Position Summary The Senior Civil Estimator is responsible for preparing, coordinating, and managing cost estimates for large-scale civil construction projects, ensuring accurate, competitive, and profitable bids while mentoring junior estimators and collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for civil projects.
Analyze drawings, specifications, contracts, and proposals.
Quantify earthwork, concrete, structural steel, and site utilities.
Solicit, review, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
Develop project schedules, phasing plans, and cash flow projections.
Identify risks and opportunities in project scope and pricing.
Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits.
Prepare bid summaries and recommend strategies for competitive proposals.
Mentor and oversee junior estimators and support staff.
Qualifications
10+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil/infrastructure projects.
Bachelor’s in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
Strong knowledge of DOT and municipal standards.
Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, InEight, Sage Estimating).
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Physical Demands
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Regular use of phones, video calls, and digital collaboration tools.
Occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 25 lbs).
Frequent travel to job sites, including active construction environments.
Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or access uneven terrain as required during site visits.
Must use personal protective equipment (PPE) when on-site (hard hat, safety glasses, boots, high-visibility vest, hearing protection as applicable).
Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and active equipment during site inspections.
