Overview The Senior Quality Engineer will lead quality assurance initiatives within an automotive manufacturing environment, ensuring compliance with IATF 16949 standards and customer-specific requirements. This role involves driving continuous improvement, implementing robust quality systems, and applying Six Sigma methodologies to reduce defects and enhance process capability.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific quality standards.
Lead APQP, PPAP, and FMEA activities for new product launches and engineering changes.
Manage control plans, process capability studies (Cp, Cpk), and measurement system analysis (MSA).
Investigate and resolve internal and external quality issues using root cause analysis and 8D methodology.
Drive continuous improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma tools to reduce scrap, rework, and warranty claims.
Support supplier quality management, including audits, corrective actions, and performance monitoring.
Prepare and present quality metrics and reports to management and customers.
Train and mentor junior engineers and production teams on quality tools and standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing preferred).
5+ years of quality engineering experience in automotive manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification preferred.
Proficient in problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
Experience with GD&T, statistical analysis, and quality software (e.g., Minitab).
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with customer-specific requirements (OEM/Tier 1).
Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
Experience with auditing (internal and supplier).
