Basic Function:
The Measurement Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of measurement systems and data across operations. This position supports field technicians with measurement and SCADA issues, collaborates with Engineering and Operations to specify optimal equipment for various applications, and assists analysts in validating and auditing measurement data.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Diagnose and resolve issues with gas chromatographs, ultrasonic meters, and electronic flow meters to ensure optimal performance and data accuracy.
Identify and resolve data anomalies including system processing errors, missing or incorrect data, and physical parameter discrepancies within FlowCal.
Validate gas analyses and data against established system parameters to ensure compliance and reliability.
Conduct audits and verify the accuracy of measurement data, including third-party data, to maintain data integrity.
Recommend and select appropriate measurement equipment based on flow and pressure parameters for specific operational needs.
Work closely with measurement technicians and supervisors to maintain high standards of data quality and system performance.
Provide accurate, consolidated data for pipeline balance reports and other operational metrics.
Deliver responsive and professional support to both internal and external stakeholders regarding measurement data and systems.
Maintain comprehensive records of reports, data edits, volume changes, and historical documentation in accordance with company standards.
Ensure timely completion of tasks and reports to meet contractual and gas accounting deadlines.
Apply a strong understanding of SCADA systems and networking fundamentals to support measurement infrastructure and data flow.
Requirements:
Proven experience in troubleshooting and maintaining gas measurement equipment.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in data validation and reporting.
Familiarity with FlowCal or similar measurement software.
Solid understanding of SCADA systems and networking principles.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Work is performed in field and office environment; travel to field locations will be required.
Physical ability to tolerate extremes in temperatures and work long hours in varied weather conditions.
