Purpose of the Job
The Engineering Lead at Owens Corning Appliance is responsible for providing all aspects of technical leadership to the Plant. The position reports to the Plant Leader and is a member of the plant leadership team. This position is targeted to have the following direct reports: Quality Tech and Maintenance Team. Leading in Safety Provide a safe and secure work environment for all employees, contractors and visitors Ensure a clear and effective measurement system is followed and used to drive results; reward and celebrate safe behavior and achievements; ensure accountability Participate in work area self-inspections and accident investigations; recommend corrective actions to improve safety Lead and support safety initiatives and processes to drive toward zero recordable injuries Technical Excellence and Process Optimization Identify, lead, and implement process improvements and new process development Participate in scope development and execution of all capital projects to meet safety, performance, schedule and cost goals Be TPM site and PM (maintenance) pillar leader; develop metrics and actions for the maintenance team aligned with site TPM goals Set clear and measurable expectations aligned with plant goals; proactively analyze and manage performance metrics Share accountability for successful delivery of all aspects of the plant operating plan with other plant leaders Communicate objectives and hold people accountable to deliver results Understand customer requirements and relate them to plant process variables to ensure products meet customer expectations Ensure customer complaints are recorded, communicated plant-wide, investigated with corrective action to prevent recurrence Develop, evaluate, improve and document manufacturing processes/controls Develop and meet key milestones; communicate effectively across all levels; contribute technically to process solutions Apply statistical methods/data analytics to improve capabilities and optimize capacity utilization Lead Quality organization to meet/exceed plant Quality goals; ensure PPAPs and other customer requirements are completed timely Lead and Develop Talent Create and sustain a culture where talent is developed through performance management and evaluation Staff the organization with a mix of internal/external talent to satisfy near-term and long-term succession needs Foster a positive, diverse, collaborative environment where employees own the business success Organize training to elevate capabilities; establish clear performance expectations; hold direct reports accountable Participate in talent reviews and invest in growth of self and others Maintain documentation, track, counsel and coach to address performance issues Lead Across the Site Drive alignment between plant departments Share best practices, challenge thinking, and provide feedback; model teamwork and partnership Be seen as a strong leader across the plant; drive engagement and support cross-functional projects Assist the plant leader with other duties as required Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline A minimum of five (5) years of progressive technical experience in a manufacturing environment A minimum of two (2) years of experience leading people Preferred Experience Ability to engage and care for others starting with safety Maintenance and Reliability management including maintenance software Computer skills to use Owens Corning systems and necessary software Using data and data collection systems, and Six Sigma methods for problem-solving to reduce losses and costs Strategic plan implementation Strong verbal and written communications Business and financial acumen Strong planning, resourcing and delegation skills SPC knowledge a plus Capital delivery management Knowledge of Quality System, Quality Assurance and Quality Control methodologies Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
