Job Summary
The VNI (Venue Infrastructure) team plays a critical role in delivering competition and non-competition venues that are functional, innovative, and fully accessible for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. As part of the larger Games Planning & Delivery group, the VNI team ensures that all venues are designed and developed with the highest standards for functionality, sustainability, and inclusion. The VNI Renovations team will be responsible for the coordination, planning, design, and construction oversight of a defined group of renovations to Olympic and Paralympic venues. Reporting to the Director, Engineering this role will oversee the associated engineering works for the renovations, including management of external engineering resources and internal engineering teams, ensuring each venue meets long-term community, compliance, and long term use objectives. Key Responsibilities:
Lead electrical engineering technical design and development, including internal and external engineers and consultants Oversee the relevant aspects of technical development of renovation projects and integration of existing infrastructure where relevant Analyze existing infrastructure capacity studies and determine supplemental electrical infrastructure, if required Collaborate with architects and other engineers to integrate electrical and related systems into the overall building design Develop technical engineering design guides and principles and adapt IOC requirements to local practices Prepare and oversee the electrical portion of the venue design books and other technical publications. Advance engineering designs through increasing levels of detail from concept through construction drawings Manage and develop review process for plans to meet departmental milestones Oversee an installation team during operations and maintenance during the event period Ensure compliance within workstream to Health & Safety regulations Background & Qualifications:
5 years of electrical system design experience for new construction and/or renovations of large existing building projects Experience developing and reviewing electrical design documentation such as equipment layouts, wiring plans, flow diagrams, equipment schedules, sequence of operations, and specifications Experience specifying equipment and developing electrical system load calculations using industry standard software Advanced knowledge of engineering and collaboration tools and software (Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), etc.) Experience with key industry codes and practices, including California Building Code and others Knowledge with fundamental project management concepts (scope, schedule, budget) Demonstrated commitment to co-creation and collaborative decision-making LA28 is committed to operating fair and unbiased recruitment procedures allowing all applicants an equal opportunity for employment, free from discrimination on the basis of religion, race, sex, age, sexual orientation, disability, color, ethnic or national origin, or any other classification as may be protected by applicable law.
