The candidate would be responsible for project managing New Work Certification and Follow-Up Service related projects for the Telecommunications Cable industry, Safety and Transmission Performance. Heavy customer interaction is involved and would include email, Teams calls and phone. Strong communication, collaboration and organizational skills are critical. The candidate is expected to work independently, self-manage and prioritize projects based on the estimated completion dates provided to our customers. The candidate would also support our sales function in the preparation of quotes. The candidate would also be required to work with customers on the resolution of follow up sample testing non-conformances identified as part of UL’s mark integrity program. The candidate may also be asked to participate in special developmental projects to continue their UL and technical development journey. Responsibilities
Determines project scope, develops a preliminary plan of investigation, and determines project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing client input, available data, and product construction. Initiates communication with clients to promote and explain the benefits of new and existing services. Communicates with clients to discuss technical issues, explain UL procedures and requirements, convey project costs, and negotiate completion dates and sample requirements. Addresses client concerns and resolves issues. Establishes appropriate test programs by reviewing files and manufacturer information, examining samples, and applying UL requirements. Examines samples for compliance with UL requirements and notifies clients of non-conformances or changes in project scope or specifications. Coordinates laboratory activities by preparing data sheets, scheduling and reviewing work of laboratory staff, and establishing completion dates. Coordinates administrative aspects of project management and may serve as Project Handler of record and/or Reviewer of record as assigned. Communicates project status and results to clients through frequent contact and reports. Integrates continuous improvement concepts into all aspects of the job. Resolves engineering issues related to Variation Notices by analyzing and reporting on variation acceptability. Assists in the development of UL requirements and in developing special test methods and equipment. Assists in analyzing test programs for adequacy and sequence; may coordinate File Reviews as directed. Represents UL at industry-related functions such as seminars and trade shows and adheres to the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and security practices. Performs other duties as directed. Qualifications
University degree in Engineering required; Electrical Engineering strongly preferred. Strong electrical knowledge. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong communication skills and ability to interact with customers. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. What we offer
