Overview
Water Resources Engineer-In-Training (EIT) role at Stantec. The role involves working on smaller projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the close guidance and supervision of a senior engineer/designer. You should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for a project. Tasks may include calculations, field work, coordination of simple tasks, and meeting attendance and recording. The smaller projects will have relatively few complex features and the EIT will assist more senior engineers/designers by performing routine aspects of civil engineering assignments. Your Opportunity

Use knowledge of general concepts of civil engineering elements including system hydraulics, surveying and topographic mapping, geotechnical considerations, grading, utility investigations and analyses. Assist in creation of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and accompanying geospatial data. Assist team in preparing civil designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports. Conduct basic calculations and perform other duties of a similar nature under supervision of a project engineer. May perform field work related to pilot and/or construction activities. Assist in supporting the civil team during construction, including submittal reviews, responses to RFI, and contract document clarifications. Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. Capabilities and Credentials
Basic understanding of civil engineering design concepts including gravity and pressure systems, geotechnical, surveying, storm water/drainage design, road design, erosion and sediment control, and grading. Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and engage in creative and critical thought. Understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas effectively. Ability to interpret sketches, engineering drawings, and similar material. Basic experience in Microsoft Office and relevant software (AutoCAD Civil3D, GIS, HECRAS, MicroStation/OpenRoads, PCSWMM, XPSWMM, HydroCAD, or other modeling software). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil or Environmental Engineering. EIT designation or ability to take the EIT exam soon. Minimum of 0-2 years of experience; Co-op/Internship experience preferred. Education or experience with surface water resources, natural resources, soil science, or hydrogeology is an asset. About Stantec
