Position

The Composite Technician focuses on producing and developing composite materials to enhance quality and efficiency. They are responsible for coordinating with engineers to study and improve designs and shop-aids, as well as operate machines and equipment with an eye for developing strategies and workflow.

Technicians must be able to follow instructions from engineers and strive to ensure their work meets high standards of quality. They are also required to work in a team environment, so strong communication and collaboration skills are important.

Responsibilities

Prepare composite components for assembly. Manufacture composite components using layup and bladder molding practices. Perform repairs on composite components. Arrange molds and tooling for composite production. Inspect and test composite components for defects. Maintain and troubleshoot composite assembly equipment. Maintain accurate record of composite and assembly activities. Develop and implement processes and procedures for composite and assembly. Prepare molds and dies.

Required Qualifications

Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, shop aids, and written instructions with limited supervision. Ability to understand and adhere to all safety and quality policies.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in composite manufacturing or related field preferred. Proficiency in using hand and power tools. Attention to detail and quality control skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Physical dexterity and ability to work with complex parts.

Education

High school diploma or GED certificate.

Experience

Two to three years of work-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

Basic math and computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Teams)

Working Conditions

While performing typical duties of this job, production employees will experience the conditions noted below. PPE is provided to protect employees against physical harm or hazards in the workplace environment.

Usually work indoors. These sites may not be temperature controlled. Exposure to loud sounds and distracting noise levels. Exposure to hazardous equipment. Exposure to contaminants. Shared workspaces with other employees. Requires handling objects of up to 50 lbs. Lifting, pushing, pulling, and bending. Standing and/or walking for 8 to 12 or more hours per day (varies based on role, shift, and overtime).

Required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

Required PPE provided by SEKISUI Aerospace based on the employee’s position and exposure. Below are typical PPE used on the production floor. Appropriate PPE must be worn by all employees when on the production floor.

Pay

SEKISUI Aerospace is required by Washington law to include the pay for this role when hiring a Washington resident. Pay may be higher or lower for non-resident WA employees, based on the market data for their region, allowing us to pay employees competitively in different geographic markets.
