Stress Analysis Engineer Location:
ONSITE in Cedar Park, TX 78613 Salary:
$100,000-120,000/year (depending on experience) Must Haves: Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering 5+ years of experience in stress analysis, preferably within aerospace or motorsports 5+ years of structural, fluid, buckling, stability, and non-linear analysis experience Experience with Classical Laminate Theory (CLT) and composite materials Experience with structural analysis tools such as Patran, ANSYS, and Femap Programming experience in Python Experience with COPVs (Composite Overwrapped Pressure Vessels) Ability to explain technical concepts clearly, including CLT and structural fundamentals Plusses: Experience working in high-performance environments such as Formula 1 or
aerospace development programs Functional CAD skills Familiarity with LabVIEW and MATLAB Day-to-Day: As a Stress Analysis Engineer, you will be responsible for analysis of various structures across multiple projects including spacecraft, launch vehicle structures, and launch and test ground support equipment. Your role involves using structural analysis to enhance existing designs and influence new ones by reducing weight while ensuring compliance with program and customer strength and stability requirements. You will also use hardware testing to correlate and validate analysis models. Specific duties include: Collaborating with design, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to develop hardware throughout the design lifecycle Conducting structural analyses using classical hand calculations and finite element analysis for composites and metals Performing linear and non-linear structural analysis, eigenvalue buckling analysis, non-linear buckling analysis, and modal finite element analysis using ANSYS and NX Nastran Creating test requirements to ensure sufficient data for analysis correlation Validating finite element analysis with hand calculations and test data Reviewing both internal and external analyses Working with responsible and systems engineers to define necessary material properties and part modifications to meet structural requirements Writing strength and stability margins to meet required program safety factors Seniority level
