Overview
Environmental Coordinator at a large pharmaceuticals facility in Columbus, OH. This is a 4-month contract or contract-to-hire position, with the potential to convert to direct hire. Location: Columbus, OH (Easton Commons). Starting pay up to $26/hr depending on experience. 1st shift: 8:00am–4:30pm.
Responsibilities
Hazardous waste inspections
Regularly prepare chemical and biological waste for shipment and disposal, including creation of all federal/state waste documents and management of related paperwork
Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations (RCRA and DOT)
Material handling within client sites and transfer/end disposal facilities
Safe handling of hazardous waste containers and loading/unloading of waste from vehicles
Packaging and prepping hazardous waste for shipment
Spill response measures and potential lead on cleanup efforts
Engage with client representatives with a professional attitude and high-energy communication
Apply state/federal regulations and EHS standards; maintain high waste management proficiency
Train clients on chemical safety and hazardous waste management
Attend client operations meetings
Train new team members
Qualifications
2+ years of experience related to environmental waste management (preferably in an environment involving hazardous waste)
Experience with RCRA, waste profiling/characterization, scheduling, manifesting, DOT labeling, recycling, shipping
Experience visiting labs and handling waste in Biosafety Level 2 environments
Ability to work at multiple buildings; travel to labs and perform waste handling activities
