MPS Group, Inc. is seeking a Environmental Coordinator to join our team at the Ford Flat RockFacility in Flat Rock, MI . In this role, you will be responsible for managing on site technicians and coordinating all aspects of waste management operations, including waste collection, recycling, and disposal. This position is integral to ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, supporting sustainability efforts, and helping the facility meet its waste reduction and recycling goals. The Environmental Coordinator will also engage with their project manager, clients and vendors to ensure efficient operations and foster continuous improvement.

Responsibilities and Job Duties:

Communicate with clients, subcontractors and supervisors, any changes, or discrepancies in contract and/or subcontract requirements.

Coordinates client “in-plant” waste management systems.

Coordinates scheduling and pickup of waste for third party disposal.

Evaluates waste streams for recycling/pollution prevention programs.

Collects and transports recyclables and hazardous waste from various locations.

Supports all cost savings and waste reduction initiatives.

Operated onsite baler and forklift to assist with recycling segregation.

Organization and Collection of shipping paperwork.

Documents and informs management of any contamination in plant’s recycling.

Support and assist with management of all waste streams (except scrap metal) including general plant trash (rubbish), mixed debris, routine, and episodic hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal waste.

Coordinate, monitor, and inspect Waste Collection Areas (satellite and 90 Day accumulation).

Coordinate with customer Environmental Staff regarding facility priorities and initiatives.

Evaluate customer processes to determine waste reduction/elimination opportunities.

Conduct training of customer personnel regarding best waste management practices and regulatory guidelines.

Provide information for the proper procurement of containers with visual controls, as requested and approved by customer for the collection of regulated and recyclable waste.

Prepare all regulatory or customer specified waste shipment documentation.

Conduct inspections as required by regulation and as required by customer internal requirements of all areas(s) at customer to verify compliance with all RCRA regulations and submit a monthly report to customer documenting the audit results.

Collect containers used to collect hazardous waste as often as necessary to accommodate customer needs.

Deliver spill clean-up materials, as requested by customer for the containment and collection of wastes associated with spills and spill clean-up residues.

Aid, as requested by customer, in the collection of the waste generated because of the spill.

Convey and manage the spill waste as prescribed by customer.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

3 years minimum experience in waste management.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Excel, Power point, and Word capabilities.

Ability to read, analyze, interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.

Preferred Qualifications:

40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training

Department of Transportation (DOT) Hazardous Material regulations.
