The Field Service Technician will be responsible for the full lifecycle support of all Fortna equipment that relates to FORTNA/MHS/SRS products. Assessments Commissioning Installation Preventive Maintenance Repairs Training Troubleshooting ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Will work efficiently under the guidance of the Field Service Supervisor, Lead, Manager, and/or the LPS Service Director for the following tasks: Technical expertise and mastery of mechanical/electrical drawings for industrial control systems. Repairs and maintains in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manual, and manufacturer’s specifications, machinery, and mechanical equipment, such as engines, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments. Ability to work alone and/or with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate and execute classroom and practical training activities. Expert mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair skills. Ability to work as part of a team. Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group. Act as lead or first-level supervisor. Provide technical support by phone/PC during non-office hours. Readily available to go onsite for technical emergencies/customer support at any time. Mastery of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting. Ability to meet deadlines, always. Certification in various welding techniques (stick, MIG, TIG) is a plus. Provides customer service and support for electronic equipment. Installs, calibrates, maintains, and repairs all equipment. Responds to calls for emergency repairs. Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems, referring only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. Maintains service or maintenance records. Uses manufacturers' service manuals and documentation for troubleshooting and repairs. May be responsible for maintaining parts inventory by ordering replacements and conducting inventories. Performs complex technical services at customer sites or in the field. Installs, adjusts, maintains, and repairs company products. Maintains parts inventory and uses a variety of small tools following organizational guidelines. QUALIFICATIONS:
Possesses a technical degree or 6+ years of equivalent work experience. Possesses a technical certification in related fields or 6+ years of experience in a skilled trade. Experience in conveyor repair and system installation within the material handling industry. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and interpret equipment manifests, BOMs, and mechanical/electrical drawings. Excellent verbal communication skills. Ability to diagnose electrical or mechanical issues and formulate action plans. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Understanding of industrial computer hardware, software applications (e.g., MS Office), and operating systems. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, results-focused. Willing to travel over 80%. Leadership skills and ability to act as a lead or supervisor. Clean driving record.
