Overview
Construction Engineer at GCON Inc. The Construction Engineer will assist the project engineer, project manager, and project team with project documentation and control, job cost accounting, and construction supervision. This role will support the field operations team to obtain, evaluate, and coordinate all information needed to construct the project in accordance with the contract documents. The candidate should feel comfortable taking on various tasks, prioritizing, and ensuring that the work meets safety standards, schedule requirements, and high-quality construction. Each day will be different, and the Construction Engineer shall protect and promote the interest of GCON in all matters.
Responsibilities Assist with document control process and maintenance of current contract documents.
Utilize project closeout checklist to assemble project closeout documents as they are generated.
Input Potential Change Orders (PCO) and Issues in CMiC, accurately; ensure pricing data is accurate and the process flow of approvals is followed.
Participate in monthly payment application process and subcontractor invoice reviews and approvals.
Understand Request for Information (RFI) and submittal processes and impact to risk mitigation; input correct data into CMiC.
Assist with preparation of assembling Contract Items List (CIL) and compliance.
Assist in monthly GC/GR forecasting and management.
Understand basic scheduling and assist with assembly of Long Lead Matrix; understand how documents are coordinated with Submittal Log and Project Schedule milestones.
Help develop subcontract labor projections for field to support Superintendent needs.
Complete OSHA 30-hour training with current certificate and comply with all safety regulations.
Complete field walks to gain thorough understanding of JHAs and pretask planning; review for understanding field safety and compliance items.
Understand importance of Daily Construction Reports (DCR) and review for accuracy.
Assist in developing pre-assembly meeting agendas and minutes.
Understand and assist with implementing project-specific Quality Control (QC) Plan; demonstrate a strong understanding of risks.
Work with project staff to incorporate safety preplanning into all phases of the projects.
Understand GCON safety “Incident and Injury Free Environment (IIFE)”.
Interpret safety scopes of work for contractors assigned to project; confidently present safety-related information with the ability to respond to related questions.
Understand basics of GSTEPS; know Step 1 “owners’ definition of success” on project.
Model GCON values on the jobsite and in interactions with subcontractors and clients.
Utilize volunteer time to support the community and foster GCON community relations.
Ability and willingness for potential travel.
Skills/Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, related field, or equivalent experience.
Ability to learn and adapt to technology platforms.
Proficiencies in Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Physical Requirements Standing/Walking/Sitting: Workday is a combination of standing, walking, and sitting.

Vision: Visual acuity in near, mid, and far range; color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination.
Hearing: Sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone and radio; sufficient to hear alarms on equipment.
Speech: Sufficient to communicate clearly in person, in front of groups, and over the telephone and radio.
Lift/Carry: Up to 40 lbs.
