POWER Engineers
Overview
POWER Engineers, member of WSP, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for our Facilities Electrical Group. In this role, you will work with a multi-disciplinary engineering team leading and executing the electrical power components of industrial and government projects. The position involves creating and issuing construction drawings and specifications, bills of material, construction cost estimates, power system studies and reports. Strong knowledge of grounding, lightning and surge protection, lighting, protective relaying, prime and standby generation, low and medium voltage motor control centers and switchgear, medium voltage substations, mission-critical power systems, and UPS systems is expected. Thorough knowledge of NEC, NFPA documents, ICC documents, energy codes, and applicable IEEE standards is required. Experience with modeling electrical systems and running power system studies using ETAP, PTW, or EasyPower is strongly preferred. The candidate should have team leadership, mentoring, excellent communication and presentation skills, personal motivation, a positive attitude, and the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently. Ability to create accurate estimates of engineering effort, compose client proposals, and drive projects to successful completion within budget and schedule constraints is needed. The role interfaces directly with internal and external clients and some travel to vendor and client sites will be required. Hybrid work environment or remote work is available for the right candidate. Position reports into the Boise, Idaho; Madison, Wisconsin; Minneapolis, Minnesota or Overland Park office. Responsibilities
Lead and execute the electrical power components of industrial and government projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Create and issue construction drawings and specifications, bills of material, construction cost estimates, and power system studies and reports. Demonstrate solid working design knowledge of grounding, lightning and surge protection, lighting, protective relaying, prime and standby generation, low and medium voltage motor control centers and switchgear, medium voltage substations, mission-critical power systems, and UPS systems. Adhere to NEC, NFPA, ICC, energy codes, and applicable IEEE standards. Model electrical systems and run power system studies using ETAP, PTW, or EasyPower (strongly preferred). Mentor junior or mid-level electrical engineers and designers; collaborate with PMs and other discipline leads to coordinate or lead projects. Prepare proposals, perform engineering calculations, produce cost estimates, and support construction activities. Interface with internal and external clients; travel to vendor and client sites as needed. Required Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university Professional Engineering License with the ability to be licensed in additional states United States citizenship 10 years of extensive experience in the design and specification of low and medium voltage power distribution systems, lighting systems, and special systems for industrial and commercial facilities Capable of performing all electrical engineering tasks including proposals, design and drafting, engineering calculations, cost estimating, client reviews, and construction support Ability to work with multiple discipline leads to manage all Electrical efforts for a project and coordinate with other disciplines Ability and desire to mentor junior or mid-level electrical engineers and designers Solid foundation in AutoCAD and/or Revit Effective prioritization, deadline setting, and adaptability Excellent oral and written communication skills with cross-disciplinary teams and clients Proven ability to take ownership of Electrical project scope and drive team and client to successful completion Ability to promote and market electrical scope and personal skills to new and existing clients Desired Education/Experience
Food & Beverage Industry experience Prior Consulting/Engineering Services experience Experience with capital projects as a direct employee of a manufacturing company Project management experience Autodesk REVIT experience a strong plus Interest in managing a group of direct reports Compensation and Benefits
Base Salary Range: $139,000.00 - $259,000.00 per year The salary range is displayed in compliance with state and local regulations. Salaries are based on factors including knowledge, skills, experience, and education.
