Mid Level Electrical Engineer (Facilities)
POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is seeking a Mid Level Electrical Engineer for our Facilities Electrical Group. The role involves leading and executing electrical power components of industrial and government projects, creating and issuing construction drawings and specifications, bills of material, construction cost estimates, power system studies and reports.
Overview Location considerations include near Boise, Idaho; Minneapolis, Minnesota; or Overland Park, Kansas offices. Hybrid work options or remote work may be available for the right candidate. Some travel to vendor and client sites will be required.
Responsibilities
Lead and execute electrical components of federal and industrial projects as part of a multi-discipline engineering team.
Create and issue construction drawings, specifications, studies, and reports.
Demonstrate knowledge of grounding, lightning and surge protection, lighting, protective relaying, prime and standby generation, low and medium voltage motor control centers and switchgear, medium voltage substations, mission-critical power systems, and UPS systems.
Apply NEC, NFPA, ICC, UFC, energy codes, and applicable IEEE standards; model electrical systems and perform power system studies (ETAP, PTW, or EasyPower preferred).
Mentor junior engineers and designers; lead electrical efforts on projects while coordinating with other discipline leads and PMs.
Prepare accurate estimates of engineering effort, client proposals, and drive projects to successful completion within budget and schedule constraints.
Interface with internal and external clients; some travel to vendor and client sites.
Maintain long-term client relationships and develop new relationships on the Hawaiian Islands, the US Mainland, and abroad.
Required Education / Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
EIT (FE) Certificate
5+ years of applicable experience in the design and specification of low and medium voltage power distribution systems, lighting systems, and special systems for federal and industrial facilities
Ability to work with and be supported by other senior engineers for guidance and act as an electrical lead or project lead
Capability to self-perform all electrical engineering tasks from proposal, design and drafting, engineering calculations, cost estimates, to client reviews and construction support
Ability to work with other discipline leads, PMs, and others to manage Electrical efforts and coordinate with other disciplines
Ability to mentor junior or mid-level electrical engineers and designers
Strong in prioritizing and meeting deadlines while adapting to change
Excellent oral and written communication skills with cross-disciplinary team members and clients
Ability to promote and market electrical scope and skills to new and existing clients
Desired Education / Experience
Experience designing to NAVFAC and USACE design standards
Professional Engineer (PE) license with ability to be licensed in additional states
MasterSpec / SpecsIntact specification authoring and editing experience
Construction cost estimating experience
Solid foundation of design and drafting utilizing AutoCAD and/or REVIT

Compensation & Benefits Base Salary Range: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year. Compensation is based on factors including knowledge, skills, experience, and education. The range does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(k) match, etc.
