As a Data Center Construction Manager, you will be part of a creative, diverse team solving problems constructing Amazon Data Centers. Our data centers are energy-efficient, cost-effective designs. You will work with Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning to build data centers that support our customers. You will be on the construction site daily, interacting with the construction trades as Amazon’s owner’s representative, driving cost, schedule, and quality while managing construction vendors and contractors. Key responsibilities
The Data Center Construction Manager is responsible for construction project management and oversight of activities related to new builds or general capital projects, owning scope, quality, schedule, and budget. Direct interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and project closeout/punch list phases. Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals with detail and accuracy. Create construction project scope and request for proposals. Financial analysis of construction. Construction project management for initiatives aimed at increasing data center resiliency. Constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs for new or optimized data centers. Construction document management including submittal review, RFI’s, change orders, and invoicing. Construction project quality control and reporting key construction metrics to team members and management. Drive teams to perform troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis for equipment failures. Lead within the group and with internal and external teams supporting the data center. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field 5+ years of experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) plants 4+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience (RFPs, bidding, change orders, quality control, RFI/submittal tracking) related to construction and project execution 4+ years of experience constructing electrical systems including large-scale power distribution/generation gear and mechanical systems including cooling systems Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA Understanding electrical engineering principles (switch gear, UPS, transformers, circuit breakers) and mechanical engineering principles for cooling systems Experience related to design or construction of data centers/critical infrastructure or large-scale mechanical and electrical plants; experience with large-scale technical operations or large-scale compute farms Clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to use data to justify conclusions; value engineering to reduce costs without affecting quality and reliability Ability to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings; define data center system-level architecture and maintain project documentation Experience in controls and commissioning of large-scale projects; experience with power management and power monitoring systems Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay ranges from $98,700/year to $210,800/year, depending on market location and experience.
