Pay Range: $18.50 - $27.75

Responsibilities

Clean/disinfects assigned area(s) by washing walls, doors, door frames, ceilings, patient televisions, windows, furniture, tile, fixtures, appliances, floors, and equipment with appropriate cleaning solutions using procedures and following schedules specific to each item. Assigned area(s) may include, but are not limited to, patient rooms, offices, meeting rooms, rest rooms, elevators stairwells and other areas of the hospital and/or off-site facilities.

Operates various equipment following department procedures.

Use chemicals and solution following department policy.

Keeps work areas in orderly, clean and safe condition.

Demonstrates commitment to customer satisfaction by utilizing AIDET with internal and external customers, meeting system goals; demonstrates ability to identify and resolve interpersonal conflicts constructively when dealing with fellow associates.

Demonstrates a positive, supportive attitude to patient families and other personnel in emergency and non-emergency situations; maintains courteous and pleasant attitude to patients, families and other contacts.

Maintains confidentiality of patient and departmental information; utilizes appropriate chain of command in resolving complaints, grievances or problems.

Prepares for patient discharges by thoroughly washing and sanitizing beds and rooms, and by placing clean linen on beds in accordance with department procedures.

Selects cleaning materials and supplies appropriate to the job and transports them to the work area; replenishes supplies as needed.

Routinely collects waste and sanitizes garbage cans; follows Standard (Universal) Precautions, Infection Control Policies, and departmental procedures.

Washes hands thoroughly and adheres to hospital handwash policy; follows safety regulations and uses appropriate germicides for disinfection.

Moves equipment and furniture for cleaning and rearrangement; reports safety hazards and returns unused supplies to storage areas.

Collects and distributes soiled and/or clean linens as required; collects trash and waste from all areas of the hospital and separates regular and recycle trash as appropriate.

Maintains a safe, clean, attractive environment for patients, visitors, and associates at all times.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience

Basic computer skills preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Able to operate small electrical equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaners); Excellent customer service skills; Ability to communicate effectively in English as related to the performance of essential job activities

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Walking, standing, bending, climbing and lifting throughout the work day; ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; for lifts over 35 pounds, lifting equipment is expected to be used or lift with at least one other associate when available
