Wood is recruiting a Senior Design Manager Process Engineer to join its Life Sciences business. This opportunity can be supported through our Plymouth Meeting PA office, Raleigh NC office, Greenville SC office, or as a remote employee.
The Role Wood is recruiting for a Senior Design Manager Process Engineer to join our Life Sciences (Biotechnology / Pharmaceuticals) team to develop life‑changing solutions. The position will manage the process engineering team, mentor staff, forecast workload, oversee quality of deliverables, expand the team, coordinate with global Life Science teams in Melbourne, Australia and Milan, Italy, and collaborate with all engineering departments.

Responsibilities
Manage the process engineering team and mentor staff.
Support career development, forecast workload, manage budgets and oversee quality.
Lead a team of process engineers, delegate tasks and monitor progress.
Work closely with the project manager to ensure scope, schedule, budget and change control.
Prepare technical specifications for purchased equipment and coordinate with suppliers.
Coordinate technical efforts between process, architecture, piping and automation teams.
Manage client drivers for capital cost, life‑cycle cost and schedule.
Participate in proposal preparation and budget development.
Support business development efforts and act as process lead in client presentations.
Provide construction, commissioning and startup support while leading a team of engineers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering, or pertinent degree and experience.
10+ years of progressive experience in process engineering design.
Focused design experience in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industries, including bulk manufacturing and fill/finish.
Experience in developing and maintaining process deliverables (process flow diagrams, piping and instrument diagrams, utility analysis, priced equipment list, etc.).
Understanding of interactions between Process design and MEP design.
Strong collaboration and leadership skills.
Experience working with equipment vendors to provide optimal solutions.
Ability to coordinate process design with the piping model.
Experience managing and encouraging growth for entry‑level engineers.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
PE license preferred but not required.
