The Role We are looking for an Automation & Process Control Engineer within our MT Automation & Process Control team. The Engineer will manage process automation activities for the manufacturing facilities in Plaquemine, Louisiana, design control strategies, develop control software, identify process improvement opportunities, and prioritize automation implementation.
Compensation The current salary range is $99,000 – $134,000, plus potential performance‑based incentive compensation.
What You’ll Do
Take ownership of the Distributed Control Systems (Delta V and MOD 5) at the site.
Maintain a plan to support and sustain process automation assets.
Serve as systems administrator for the process control area network and support cyber‑security measures.
Act as Process Automation Owner, driving the automation improvement program and identifying opportunities.
Support day‑to‑day operations, develop DCS software, and drive continuous improvement of automation performance metrics.
Design creative and effective process control strategies to optimize plant operations.
Provide guidance on instrument selection and design.
Manage the work of automation resources allocated to the site, ensuring safe implementation of projects.
Maintain process information systems (MES) and develop new MES applications.
Coordinate process automation training for site personnel and share knowledge with regional and business partners.
What You’ll Need
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree (Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering preferred).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in Automation and Process Control or Manufacturing.
Experience working in manufacturing or chemical facilities.
Previous experience in Process Automation development with instrumentation and electrical design.
Familiarity with plant operations and project work in process control.
Ability to interact with cross‑functional teams, engineering groups, plant operations, research, and commercial organization.
Work Environment The role spends approximately 80% of the time in an office environment located in the production facility and 20% in the plant environment/field.
Position Type / Hours This is a full‑time position. Normal working hours are dayshift (6 am – 6 pm). The role is agile, allowing 3‑5 days onsite during the week.
Business Travel Travel may be required 1‑2 times per year for training or other business needs.
