Advanced Staff Engineer – Testing
This role is part of GE Aviation's Large Commercial & Aero‑derivative Engine Operations (LCE/AEO) Engine Programs. The Evaluation Engine Owner manages development engine(s) and rigs through requirements definition, hardware instrumentation, engine assembly, site integration, and test execution. The Evaluation Engineer creates and maintains engine and overall program schedules and works horizontally with Instrumentation, Design Engineering, Component Test Sites, and other disciplines.
Roles and Responsibilities
Leads Test and Assembly organizations to high quality and on‑time delivery of test data supporting program test plan targets.
Understands and approves test and assembly requirements definition; provides alternate solutions to meet test needs and advises on associated risks.
Provides engineering support and expertise to ensure engines are assembled and tested to satisfy current engineering definitions.
Determines the specific expertise needed to execute on test requirements and coordinates resources and schedules to meet those requirements.
Utilizes in‑depth knowledge of the discipline and analytical thinking to execute policy and strategy.
Has knowledge of best practices and how their area integrates with others; is aware of market competition and differentiating factors.
Proposes solutions outside of set parameters to address complex manufacturing processes with technical variety and interdependent production cycles.
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience, may lead small projects with low risk, and communicates performance expectations.
This role is based in Evendale, OH and is an in‑person position.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
At least five additional years of experience in aerospace or engineering.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. No visa sponsorship.
Desired Characteristics
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
Established project management skills.
Experience in GE Aerospace engine test and/or Product Validation Team (PV).
Ability to travel minimum 10% annually.
