Qualifications Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (BS) from a four-year college or university in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology. 4+ years related experience and/or training. Engineer-In-Training license required. Professional Engineer license preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Engineer-In-Training license required. Professional Engineer license preferred.

Software/Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet Apps. Revit/AutoCAD/BIM preferred but can be trained.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions. This position requires working at a desk/computer, talking and hearing, reaching with hands and arms, lifting up to 10 pounds, standing, sitting, walking, and requires good vision.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional meetings and off-site events; may require domestic or international travel. Must maintain a current, valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. A passport may be required for international travel.

Responsibilities

Serve as the Fire Protection Engineering design lead on projects, including decisions on suppression systems, fire alarm systems, mass notification systems, and assisting with Life Safety design.

Perform accurate, legible, and well-thought-out design calculations.

Coordinate Fire Protection Engineering design with other disciplines to ensure constructable designs with no conflicts.

Attend project kickoff meetings and coordination meetings.

Work independently with minimal supervision; be self-motivated and proactive.

Perform tasks in accordance with company QC procedures.

Communicate with clients as needed and defined by the project; contact clients or contractors as needed on specific jobs.

Collaborate effectively within a team; maintain a positive attitude, multi-task, and produce high-quality work.

Demonstrate a desire to learn and grow professionally.

Additional Information Compensation is determined by factors including scope and level of position, geographic location, candidate skill, knowledge, and experience. Starting base pay may vary. The hiring range is posted with the job. Additional cash incentives may be provided, along with a range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
