Overview
Electrical Project Engineer - Entry Level role to support the North American Distribution Team. Vanderlande’s Engineering Department is responsible for the design, specification, and commissioning of Material Handling Systems, Warehouse Automation and Parcel Sortation systems for our customers throughout North America. In this position you will be working with an engineering project team in the development of an automated warehouse or parcel sortation system. You will be responsible for ensuring the design meets the customer requirements, is coordinated with other trades to ensure proper operation, can be installed and operated with efficiency, and maintain excellent communication with the site team. Success in this role involves balancing the technical requirements of the role with the soft skills to collaborate with the engineering team. You will work closely with stakeholders from other disciplines and departments to balance priorities, improve processes and satisfy a complex set of goals. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, creativity, strong interpersonal skills, drive, and passion, and will know when to solve problems independently or with the help of others. Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Develop code compliant electrical systems that meet the customer specifications
Optimize the system functionality from as-sold to a working electrical design within the budget in consultation with other disciplines (Mechanical, Controls, Supply Chain, Installation, etc.)
Perform system and component level calculations to size components and equipment for the application (conductor sizing, voltage drop, motor starters, overcurrent and short circuit protection, control panels, control networks, etc.)
Engineering of project specials needed for non-standard design applications
Apply safety regulations
Specify the electrical equipment required for the complete electrical system that operates and controls both the Vanderlande manufactured, and third party purchased items
Use software tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Word, Excel, etc.) to develop the electrical designs such as wiring diagrams, termination lists, Bill of Materials, etc.
Document all engineering decisions through design plans, complete and clear installation files, and engineering instructions directed to a site supervisor and installation subcontractor
Travel to site as needed to conduct site surveys
Support the installation and commissioning both on site, and from the Marietta, GA office
Project document control using a rights-based database system
Requirements
This is an entry level position: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology with 0 – 2 years of related work experience
Or Associate EE/ET with 3 - 5 years related experience
Must be willing and able to travel domestically up to 30% with occasional international opportunities
Ability to think conceptually (overall system) and translate this into a detailed system design
Ability to work in an entrepreneurial organization where cooperating with others and being a team member is natural
Good communicator, able to effectively understand and set expectations for deliverables
Able to handle time sensitive situations and quickly set the right priorities, while maintaining a firm grasp of the details
